CSpiritdancer Doodles

CSpiritdancer Doodles is a small family breeder of Labradoodles located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Tom and I would like to share our experience and love for this wonderful breed with everyone!

If you are a dog-lover, and you must be since you are here, your dog is more than a pet.  He/She is a member of your family!  I have trained and raised Labradors since I was 18.  There was Brandi, Bitter, and Bacardi followed by Jesse and now there is Prada, a released Canine Companion which my daughter Bailey and I raised.  I have loved all my labs for their wonderful personalities, loving nature and unwavering companionship they provided. My husband Tom has always said our lab Prada would be the perfect dog "if only she didn't shed."  She is, and has always been, the "perfect dog" despite the fact she shed at least one of herself every week!  If you have ever been or are a lab owner, I am sure you can relate.

Unfortunately, my son and my husband’s children showed signs of allergies to dogs and we decided to do some research a few years ago.  Thus began my quest to find a "Labrador that didn't shed."  We have found our labradoodle to be the perfect blend of personality, intelligence, sweetness and zest along with a low-allergy low-shed fleece coat!

We spend a lot of time outdoors hiking and biking and enjoying the lakes and streams in Colorado.  Labradoodles love to run, hike, and swim as much as they enjoy the quiet warmth of lying next to you while you relax.   Adding a pet to your family is a big decision and we are glad you chose CSpiritdancer Doodles.

The Labradoodle Breed

As a Labradoodle Breeder, we are dedicated to finding and maintaining the breed’s developing standards. Additionally, as Labradoodles are a relatively new breed, you will find there is an assortment of generation types to be found within the breed. We have included information below concerning these generation types as well as the F2 Labradoodle, which we currently breed at CSpiritdancer Doodles.

Adding a pet to your family is a big decision filled with responsibility and reward.  By using only genetically tested parents, our goal is to maintain the genetic health of the breed. This allows CSpiritdancer Doodles to provide high quality Labradoodle Puppies for Sale.

Understanding Generations:
  • F1 (First Generation) = 50% Poodle X 50% Labrador Retriever (Labrador and Poodle)
  • F1B = 75% Poodle X 25% Labrador Retriever (F1 Labradoodle and Poodle)
  • F2 (Second Generation) = F1 Labradoodle X F1 Labradoodle
  • F3 (Third Generation) = F2 Labradoodle X F2 Labradoodle
  • Multi-generation = F3 or higher generation Labradoodle X F3 or higher generation Labradoodle

Characteristics:

Standard Labradoodles tend to be 20+ inches tall weighing 45 – 60 # and live and average of 12 to 15 years.  They are intelligent and highly trainable, clever, expressive, gentle, athletic and loyal -- everything that makes a great family pet and loving companion. The head is broad. The eyes are large, slightly round, and set apart. The nose is square and large. The tail is like a saber and should be low set.   Labradoodles are known for their low-allergy, low to “no shed” coats which can be straight, wavy or curly. The flat coat needs very little grooming. The wavy and curly coats require more frequent and regular grooming two to three times a year.  Coats come in a multitude of colors including Black, Chocolate, Café au Lait, Cream, Silver, Apricot, Parchment and Lavender to name a few.

Temperament:

Labradoodles crave human company and excel as companions for those with disabilities, visual impairments, young children, and the elderly. They are very intelligent, highly trainable and sociable. Labradoodles are incredibly loyal and protective of their owners.  They are equally content running and playing as they are curling up next to you.

Training Requirement:

As with any dog, your puppy will require proper training. Training takes time, effort, knowledge, and consistency on the part of those entrusted with the dog’s well being. We recommend that you enroll your new puppy in a basic obedience class and puppy socialization class. An untrained, undisciplined, unsocialized, or bored dog is a misfit that will always reflect poorly on its master and the breed in general. There are many books available that provide beneficial information relating to puppy and dog training techniques. There are also many facilities that offer puppy socialization classes as well as obedience training. Ask your local Veterinarian for a referral to a reputable training facility.
